Dour Festival

July 14 until July 17 Wallonia presents its biggest musical event Dour Festival for the 23rd time. With over more than 200 bands and DJ’s and seven stages with music styles including hiphop, techno, electro, rock and even ska this is a festival worth attending. Dour Festival is well known for the eclectic international public, attendances from all over Europe, USA and even Asia are common. Four days of music, fun and camping in the southern of Belgium. Artists on stage include CocoRosie, The Drums, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill amongst many others. Check their website for the complete line-up. We asked a couple of our favorite photographers to express their inspiration in the best possible way they can; through a photograph. Artists usually have a muse; with photographers this isn’t any differently. What or who is their stimulus for the impressive photographs they make? Elza Jo (29) is one of our favorite photographers who works with marvelous elements in her images. The photograph is just the start of a much bigger discipline and is followed by illustrations, animations and collages. Elza Jo graduated of the Royal School of Arts in The Hague and she shot for Vice, Code, Nylon MX and BLEND amongst others. She exhibited internationally including Cokkie Snoei Gallery and Chelsea Market in New York. Read More »

The Death Set

Art punk band The Death Set recently released a new single called Can You Seen Straight?. The Death Seth formed in 2005 in Australia and they’re currently living in Brooklyn. Two years ago the guitarist, vocalist and co-founder of The Death Set Beau Velasco died of a drug overdose and however this was really hard on the band they continued. This year they dropped their third studio album Michel Poiccard, dedicated to their late friend. Their mix of punk, dance and electronic vibes is all you need on a night out. Next month they will do several performances in Europe, for exact details about the dates and places visit their website.

Prouvé Raw

Prouvé RAW is a collection of the classic Jean Prouvé designs, re-interpreted by denim label G-Star and furniture design label Vitra. Jean Prouvé was a French metal worker, architect and designer and is renowned for his modernist designs. In this Prouvé RAW collection 17 well-known designs by Prouvé such as the Standard chair, Potence lamp, Bahut and Compas desk are given new life. Furnished in temporary colours and details like dark grey, white and finished with wooden parts the designs perfectly suit the G-Star style. At the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein the complete collection is showcased until July 31.
