Laurel Nakadate \ Only The Lonely

Coming January 23, photographer and filmmaker Laurel Nakadate will open her first large-scale exhibition at New York’s art space PS1. The show will feature works made by Nakadate over the last ten years, including her early video works, in which she was invited into the homes of anonymous men to dance, pose, or even play dead in their kitchens, bedrooms, and living rooms. Once she arrived home with them, Nakadate filmed everything that happened. These videos are bizarre but awkwardly intriguing. Read More »

This guy is unbelievable. Willard Wigan (1957) creates works of art inside the eye of a needle. His career as a micro-sculptor began at a very early age. As he was dyslexic and had learning difficulties, he started focussing on other stuff, things that he could control. He created his own fantasy worlds, on a microscopic scale. Nowadays, Willard’s micro-sculptures have become so minute that they are only visible through a microscope. Each piece commonly sits within the eye of a needle, or on a pin head. Read More »

Stern FOTOGRAFIE Portfolio No. 62

German publisher Stern recently released Portfolio No. 62. This new edition of Stern Fotografie is dedicated to the work of the famous designer and photographer Hedi Slimane. This book, consisting of 80 photographs in black and white, is the image of the artist’s style: sober and minimalist. Slimane depicts both unknown and famous artists in his work, and gets quite close to the ones portrayed. Portfolio No. 62 can be purchased at Colette.
