It might not exactly be the most cheerful song we’ve heard about The Netherlands, but Cold Specks debut single ‘Holland’ has been mesmerizing us ever since we’ve heard it for the first time. Josh Tillman aka Father John Misty, who has been recording/releasing solo albums since 2003 and who recently left Seattle’s Fleet Foxes after playing drums from 2008-2011, releases what seems to be the first single from his upcoming solo album Fear Fun. It features the OH so insanely cool Aubrey Plaza and – one of my favourite bloggers at the moment – Alexi Wasser from IMBOYCRAZY.COM. Directed by Noel Paul, “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” looks to me like an over-exaggerated fantasy of what a day in Aubrey Plaza’s life might look and feel like; it’s not just escapism but pure humor, sex and mischief. Fear Fun is available May 1, 2012 from Sub Pop and Bella Union, in the US and UK/EU respectively.

Annie Clark a.k.a. St. Vincent is a piece of art herself in the new music video for ‘Cheerleader’, a track off her latest effort ‘Strange Mercy’. Piece by piece the porcelain version of the singer-songwriter is breaking down, a metaphor that fits quite well with the objectifying theme of the song. In other news: St. Vincent will be exposing herself to Amsterdam too; she is doing a gig in the Melkweg on February 29th.
The eclectic foursome Azari & III have touched down in Amsterdam again! Tomorrownight they will play a gig in Paradiso, opened by the equally awesome Kim Ann Fox (Hercules & Love Affair). The afterparty ‘Night Voyage’ is hosted by Tom Trago and features Benny Rodrigues, Jan van Kampen and our friends from Spacegirls and Dog Day Disco.
